Lira Clinical 2019 Year in Review and Trends for 2020

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on a number of major milestones that we were proud to share with you in 2019, as well as exciting trends for the beginning of a new decade!

Through our hands-on educational series and introduction of three new and two reformulated products, we focused on the freedom of treatment customization for clients’ skin concerns in-clinic and at-home.

The Science of Flawless Skin: Advanced Peel Factors

Lira Clinical’s focus in 2019 was allowing professionals to identify environmental damage compared to traditional photo/sun damage. Understanding professionals require creative freedom within their treatment room customizing each client’s treatment with limited social down time. We were able to increase clinical results for all global skin types. Lira Clinical introduced the Science of Flawless Skin symposium in nine different markets, presenting to sold-out audiences.

What’s Next?

Back by popular demand, our hands-on educational program will be coming to multiple cities in 2020 with a newly refined focus on The Science of Ageless Skin, building on the foundation of our original Flawless series. This unique program will focus on the key causes of skin aging, prevention and brightening. With The Science of Ageless Skin we will be saying goodbye to sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles in 2020! Look for our event schedule to be released soon and reserve your spot.

Easy-to-use 1-2-3 skincare steps are in high demand here in North America. Our focus will be on the ability to achieve instant/immediate results with as few steps as possible. Your clients are busy and have limited attention span for skin.

Individuality Defines Luxury

Customizable beauty with brands that cater to the individual, not the masses this is what Lira Clinical is about. A customized approach to skincare needs will increase brand loyalty across your client demographic and solidify your skincare relationship with clients.

Clean Beauty

On trend and going strong sustainable ingredients while verifying clean products from ingredient harvesting to final production made available for consumer access. Legislation is now in process for defining the natural product category. Learn more about this in our upcoming new podcast series.


Ever-increasing in popularity, CBD is not going away in the cosmetic industry.  There was a 367% increase in online searches for CBD skincare this past year with the FDA having two CBD drugs in testing currently. It’s all under wraps right now but look for Lira Clinical to introduce some exciting products in this area as well.

2020 Current Trends in Aesthetic Medicine

At Lira Clinical we always keep up with what’s on trend in aesthetic medicine as this also influences our treatment protocols and products. We share some key highlights you will find interesting below. Read on for what’s on trend…

Demographics, Popular Treatments and Medi Spas

Females (87%) still make up the core of patients seeking aesthetic treatments with the average age around 35-54. What is trending, however, are 18-34-year old’s seeking medical treatment. Over 60’s are also seeking treatments to look younger or more refreshed as they continue to work and postpone retirement. Botox continues to be the number one non-surgical treatment requested, followed by dermal fillers and chemical peels (American Society of Plastic Surgeons, ASPS Report 2018). According to ASPS, Botox has grown 79% from 2002-2016 alone.

Men are also seeking aesthetic treatments but are more private about it than women. Men are seeking treatments to look younger as they may find themselves single, competing for a job, etc. as they age.

Men are primarily looking for hair loss treatments, hair removal options, wellness, hormone replacement, neuromodulators, and fillers. They want to look refreshed.

Chemical peels continue to be popular but patients want less invasive treatment and less downtime (more specifically, less social downtime). They want the results but not the downtime. This is where home care with good cosmeceuticals become paramount.

Medical spas and doctor’s offices who offer aesthetic services are becoming more on-board with carrying professional skincare lines. They recognize that offering cosmeceuticals helps enhance and maintain the skin treatments their patients are receiving. As mentioned earlier, it’s important to note that patients prefer a simplified skincare regime. This is one of the great benefits of Lira Clinical as many of our products are multifunctional. Your clients have fewer steps to complete to ensure a successful home care routine.

Social Media: The Selfie to End All Selfies

More apps and computer-based technology will allow consumers to see how their faces will look before and after specific treatments. This technology can be highly beneficial in educating the client on options, treatments and cost, as well as narrowing any potential expectation gaps.

Patients are also more comfortable with talking about skincare services with their friends on social media, and the market share for both men and millennials continues to climb. The #nofilter look is exploding on social feeds with the increased focus on a healthy and natural look in makeup and skincare.

No Makeup

Decisions made about appearances, cosmetic procedures and skincare, etc. are being affected by social media influencers. By posting procedures and promoting cosmetic procedures, social influencers are reducing fear associated with cosmetic treatments.

The Biggest Trend

A MORE COMPLETE EXPERIENCE. Some medical aesthetic facilities have begun to transition from offering aesthetic treatments exclusively to promoting women’s health and wellness, in general. People don’t simply go to these facilities for laser treatments and Botox anymore—they want full-body health. Treatments that are now being offered by medical aesthetic facilities include hormone replacement therapy, hair restoration with PRP, IV vitamin replacement, medically controlled weight loss, and even vaginal rejuvenation—one of the trendiest treatments available today. Rather than treating only surface-level issues, these modern medical aesthetic outlets are embracing a more complete solution, with the goal of helping patients to feel better, not just look better.
